Osun: NYSC urges corps members to refuse drinks, food etc.

The Director General, National Youth Service Corps, Brigd-Gen. Johnson Olawumi, on Wednesday warned corps members recruited as ad hoc staff for the Osun State governorship election to be above board in the discharge of their duties on election day.
Olawumi, who addressed the corps members in Osogbo, said any corps member caught acting contrary to the instructions would be left to face the consequences alone.
The NYSC DG said the corps members had been properly sensitised to their duties during the election and advised them to learn more about their duties from a handbook that were given to them.
He reminded the corps members of the need to be neutral and carry out the duties in strict adherence to the provision of the electoral laws, urging them to refuse offers of food or drink from the representatives of political parties.
Olawumi added that adequate security arrangement had been made for the corps members.
“INEC wants the best of conduct from you. You are not a member of any political party, nor have favourite among the candidates. You must be neutral and conduct yourselves well to avoid being molested. If you abide by rules, no one will harass you. We have made adequate security arrangement for you right from your various residences to where you will work on the day of the polls,” he said.
