The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola has directed that the  the tuition fees of the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, be reversed  to the old charges of N25,000.

Fashola disclosed this, Thursday at the convocation ceremony of the institution. The reversal comes after months of protest by students and lecturers of the university.
The Lagos state government had in 2011, increased the fees from N25,000 to N198,000 for students of Humanities and Education, while medical students  were to pay  N350,000. After the protest, the state government   approved a reduction by 34 to 60percent which would have seen students pay between N76,750 and N158,250 depending on the faculty  and year of  study

In his reaction, a member of the Education Rights Campaign (ERC), Mr. James Ewebiyi   who expressed excitement about the reversal, said it is a victory for students of LASU and many others who believed in and supported the SAVELASU campaign that was initiated by the ERC.
